Spring is here. And with the newly sprung greenery and warm sunshine comes the question of creating an amazing spring capsule wardrobe for 2023.

I will show you 5 different spring capsule wardrobes, taking into consideration the new trends and new colors for 2023.

The secret behind creating a functional capsule wardrobe is to hit the right balance between new and trendy pieces and old trusty favorites.

1. Decide on a colors palette

The first thing you have to do is to decide which colors you want to use. You should also decide on the number of pieces you want to include in your capsule wardrobe.

I don’t recommend including accessories in this number, save those decisions for later.

8 pieces of clothes, lots of options

In these spring capsule wardrobes suitable for 2023, I’ve decided on 8 pieces. Using these 8 pieces of clothes you can create at least 6 different outfits. (More if you count outerwear.)

If you need a bigger capsule wardrobe, just increase the number of pieces following the same guidelines.

2. Evaluate what you’ve got

No need to go shopping for a whole new wardrobe, the best capsule wardrobes are built on the clothes that are already in your wardrobe.

When you have your capsule wardrobe, lay everything out and start creating outfits.

You might be surprised by which ones end up being your favorite outfits.

The best way to create a capsule wardrobe is to try on your clothes. Take pictures of your outfits so you know exactly how to get dressed.

Star piece versus basic pieces

A capsule wardrobe needs clothes that pack a punch. Since you will be wearing these clothes a lot, they need to be special.

You don’t want to look plain or feel bored with your clothes.

I call these pieces “star pieces.”

They are wardrobe gold, those clothes that always makes you feel confident and like you expressing your true self.

You also want your spring capsule wardrobe to be functional, you probably want to be elegant while at the same time having a wardrobe that’s practical for your lifestyle.

Most of us need a certain number of basic clothes. That’s how we get dressed most days. Basic clothes support your “star pieces.”

In a capsule wardrobe, you need around 30 percent to be “star pieces” and 70 percent to be basic clothes.

A Finale note

Creating your 2023 spring capsule wardrobe should be fun. The trick is to make sure all tops match all bottoms and that your jacket (or jackets) work with all your outfits. It takes a bit of puzzling to figure it out.

Also, think about which clothes you want to incorporate in your capsule; for example a denim jacket or a leather jacket. You can use one piece of cloth as the starting point for your whole capsule wardrobe. Build everything else around your favorite piece.
